Connections - Annie

" I too rose reluctantly; it was bitter cold, and I dressed as well as I could for shivering, and washed when there was a basin at liberty, which did not occur soon, as there was but one basin to six girls... " (44).

"Disgusting! The porridge is burnt again!" (45).

These quotes show the horrible conditions that the girls at Lowood were forced to endure, nasty food, freezing cold temps, and bathing conditions nobody would want to participate in. This reminded me of the same conditions that occurred in the classic movie Annie the orphan girl who had faith and never gave up, just as Jane did! Although the girls in Annie were forced to do hard labor instead of vigorous learning.
